Lost AirPods: how to tag the charging case

The case stays in the locker, on the metro seat, or on the library table. Once it dies, the map stops seeing it. A person holding it can still tell you.

When the battery dies, the map goes dark

A tracking app needs the case charged and a compatible device passing by. Fully flat in someone else's bag or in lost property, it stops broadcasting. A QR needs no battery: the finder's phone reads it.

A mini sticker with a short code

A case has room for little. Use a small high-grip sticker on the base or the back, clear of the hinge rub. On Pro, the five-character short code beside it helps when the camera cannot focus up close or in low light: it can be typed.

What to show in the gym, metro, or library

Neither the exact model with serial nor your address. Only that it has an owner and how to tell you. With a private page there are no visible details: notice and form. The general rule is in what to show and what to hide.

How to do it

  1. One page for the case

An internal title like “AirPods”. Free includes one public page.

  2. Private when there is nothing to show

On Pro. The notice and the form are enough; the contact stays out of sight.

  3. A well-stuck mini sticker

Base or back of the case, clear of the hinge and the charging port.

  4. Keep the contact fresh

If your number or your case changes, edit or pause the page.

Common questions

Is the tracking app not enough?
It helps while the case holds charge and coverage. Fully flat, it stops broadcasting. Anyone with a phone can open the page.
Should I put the serial number?
No. The finder does not need it to write to you. Keep it for a claim.
What if it is found abroad?
The link opens the same. Write the notice in a language that person reads, or in two lines.

When you know what the page should say, create it and download the QR.
