Bike
A bike or scooter someone can return
A code on the frame does not lock the bike and does not bring it back on its own. It helps when someone sees it in a doorway, on the street, or in a shop and wants to reach the owner. Same for an urban scooter.
On the frame, not on the lock
Stick it on a flat, visible part of the frame or scooter stem: top tube, seat post, or fork side. Not on the lock, not on the wheel, not on a saddle you swap, and not over a reflector. A part you remove to carry the bike takes the code with it.
Use a weather- and rub-resistant sticker and keep the QR flat, off tight curves. On Pro, add the five-character short code beside it: when the camera cannot focus in rain or at night, it can be typed.
Use a private page. The address of your building does not belong on a bike that spends the night outside. Same idea as a set of keys: the finder writes, and you say where to hand it over.
The serial number stays with you
Keep it for yourself and, if you need it, for a police report. The finder does not need it in order to write to you. Leave it off the page.
Nasıl yapılır
A private page
The text does not show your home. Whoever scans can write to you.
A short notice
Ask them to write and to name the place. No serial number and no address.
Sticker on the frame
A smooth patch at eye level, off the lock and off parts you replace.
Lock it separately
The code does not secure the bike. The lock still does that.
Sık sorulan sorular
- Does this prevent theft?
- No. A lock does that job, as far as a lock can. The code helps when someone wants to get in touch.
- What if someone sells it?
- The code does not block a sale. If the page stays active, a later reader can land on your notice. It does not prove ownership.
- Where should it not go?
- On the wheel, on a saddle you replace, on the lock, or over a reflector.
